      Hugo von Tours 2. Tochter Adelais heiratet zuerst den WELFEN Konrad, dessen eine Schwester Judith 819 2. Gemahlin LUDWIGS DES FROMMEN geworden ist, während die 2. Emma, 827 Frau Ludwigs des Deutschen wird. So bringt Adelais (Adelheid) auch die fortan bei den WELFEN verfolgbaren Familiennamen Adelais und Hugo zu den WELFEN. Dass Aelis/Adelais in 2. Ehe Robert den Starken heiratet, ist von der neueren Forschung wiederholt angenommen worden.

      Nach dem Wortlaut der Brüsseler Handschrift sind wohl Mutter und Kind (Hrudulf) bei der Geburt gestorben. Nun findet man allerdings in der früheren Forschung die Theorie von einer 2. Heirat der Adelheid mit dem KAPETINGER Robert dem Tapferen [Miit der politischen Lage läßt sich eine Ehe Roberts mit Adelheid ganz schwer zusammenreimen. Robert erhielt nämlich 865 die Grafschaft Auxerre, die KARL DER KAHLE kurz zuvor dem Sohn Adelheids, Konrad, genommen hatte]. Sie erweckt jedoch schon beei chronologischen Erwägungen Bedenken. Wenn Konrad 862 zuletzt erwähnt, also in einem der folgenden Jahre gestorben, Robert der Tapfere 866 gefallen ist, bleibt für eine solche 2. Ehe, aus der vor dem Tode Roberts die beiden Söhne Odo und Robert hervorgegangen sein sollen, nicht viel Zeit. Eine verwandtschaftliche Verknüpfung zwischen WELFEN und KAPETINGERN ist wahrscheinlich, muß aber nicht über Adelheid gehen.
